Sunset at Boulevard

Dal lake is the most sought out place for locals as well as tourists in Srinagar. The beautiful lake is surrounded by Himalayas ( Zabarwan hills ) on one side and necklace like boulevard road beautified and lined with Chinar & Poplar trees and Famous Moghul gardens on the foothills of Zabarwan . The view is so balanced like God’s own creation. One side you have a view of Shankaracharya temple and opposite to that Fort view of Hari Parbhat ( hill ) . The sunsets usually appear surreal at many times around the Lake. This urban lake is filled with Houseboats for night stays and Shikara (boats) for tourist rides. When it is sunset, it sets an idyllic atmosphere all around.
Dal Lake is nicknamed as the “Jewel in the crown of Kashmir”. This wooden boat is called “Shikara” and ‘Houseboats’ are only seen in this region of India. “Shikira” is like a venetian gondola ,a cultural symbol of Kashmir.
